CPRE Hampshire are looking for Hedge-layers who are keen to take on a young person to learn the craft of hedge-laying.

With funding for 3 months, 4 days a week, this can include a mixture of coppice management for preparation of materials for hedge-laying and hedge laying for customers as part of your usual work.

We will recruit a young person who has some experience in outdoor practical working, with use of a car.

We will ensure they have:

– 2 days of courses of hedge-laying training prior to them joining with you so that they have the very basics.
– Cross cutting and maintenance course.

You will receive £500 per month which will help towards their wage (National Living Wage @ £9.50/hr) and any equipment costs.

This could be undertaken as a partnership between a group of professionals to meet the 30 hours of work per week.

If this is of any interest to you then please contact ellie.banks@cprehampshire.org.uk for further discussion of the programme.

Beginning to look like a layed hegde. The two rows of hedge plants are layed into the centre and out the opposite side where the leaves remain. This is called ‘double brush'.
