Celebrating the Countryside at Daisy Meadow Dairy Farm
We had a brilliant day celebrating the countryside at Daisy Meadow Dairy Farm in Botley, Hampshire, with just over 100 attendees, including around 30 children.
The event brought together families, volunteers, and partners for a fun-filled and educational day in the Hampshire countryside.
Alison, Operations Manager at CPRE Hampshire, shared: “It was a good day and really great to see so many of our volunteers and partners all working together.”
Activities on the day included:
- Scything demonstrations and a Meadow Talk by local ecologist Rachel Remnant
- Wildflower ID walk through the meadow
- Foraging walk with Jen Williams of Naked Jam
- Willow weaving workshop with Jacquie from Willow and Crafts
- Butter making – a hands-on activity enjoyed by many for the first time!
- Beginner bird ID walk
- Insect sweep netting walk and insect stand
- Petting farm animals with sheep, ducks, rabbits, cows and calves courtesy of Popells Barn Mobile Farm
- CPRE Hampshire activities including card colouring, lucky dip, and a cakes & teas stall
- BBQ, homemade cakes, milkshakes, and ice creams to keep everyone well fed and refreshed
Steve, who attended the foraging workshop, said:
“Thanks a lot. We really enjoyed the day and really appreciate you sending the recipes… loving the hawthorn ketchup one!”
It was a great to see families engaging with nature, learning new skills, and enjoying the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Huge thanks to everyone who helped make the day such a success!
