Hampshire's Choice Award 2018

Vote for your favourite project now

The Hampshire’s Choice Awards is the first time that you the public can vote for your favourite choice from our finalists. The winning project or organisation will receive the top prize of £500. Simply look through our candidate information below and fill in the survey to pick the winner.  It’s a difficult choice as all are amazing projects, but just one vote per person please!

The winners will be announced at The Countryside Awards 2018 ceremony and posted on our social media pages – so look out for your top choice.

Voting will close at 5pm on 31st August.

Young People - Inspero
A Forest School providing classes to involve and educate 4-14 year olds in ‘hands on’ sustainable woodland and habitat. Volunteers run affordable classes for local children, including those from disadvantaged communities.
Rural Enterprise - Wessex Wild Plum
Wessex Wild Plum have planted a new orchard with over 2000 plum trees that will be enable expansion of their drinks range and wider products. 
Community and Voluntary - Sparsholt Village Shop Association and Post Office
Sparsholt Village Shop run by 50 volunteers ensures that the community of Sparsholt is a fabulous place to live and helps keep the community sustainable.
Making Places - New Forest Land Advice Service - Better Boundaries
Better Boundaries work with landowners to imrpove hedgerows, creating new habitat corridors than enhance the landscape and character of the New Forest.
Community and Voluntary - Walkers are Welcome Whitchurch
A group working for the future; the care and preservation of our countryside and the future prosperity of Whitchurch. Aiming to have some of the best footpaths in North Hampshire to be widely recognised as having excellent walking opportunities.
Making Places - Leckford Estate - Longstock Park Water Gardens
A world renowned site hidden within the Test Valley with 40 different types of lilies and hundreds of other flowers and plants protected by outstanding local gardeners
Rural Enterprise - Exton Vineyard
Exton Vineyard conserves the surrounding natural environment while developing and maintaining a successful vineyard and focusing on sustainability through solar energy.
Young People - Winchester Youth Counselling - Nature Therapy
Winchester Youth Counselling & HIWWT run Nature Therapy sessions for 11-15 and 18-25 year olds. Young people take part in a range of outdoor activities to support their wellbeing.
Community and Voluntary - Petersfield Community Tree Project
A community project to collect research and develop a report on nearly 1000 trees in the area. The report has been used to inform a Tree Strategy and Action Plan for Petersfield.
Young People - Minestead Study Centre
Hands on interactive project that teaches Primary School children how to live more sustainably. This is taught on the beautiful seven acre site and the New Forest.
Rural Enterprise - Gorilla Spirits
Gorilla Spirits relocated to former farm builidng, revitalising the use of space, creating local employment and bringing tourism to the village of Upton Grey.
Rural Enterprise - Beechcroft Farm
A new addition to the family run farm, a Farm Shop & Tearoom selling local produce and providing a connection point between farmers and the public.
Making Places -Winchester City Council - Hillier's Haven
A new public green space created from a derelict area of forgotten land. It’s designed to be a wildlife and people friendly open space linking the environment to the open countryside.
Young People - Oasis Down to Earth
A community city farm providing a positive place with nature at it's heart providing nature focused opportunities for local children to connect with our environment
Making Places - T2 Architects - Symonds
A sustainable 12 dwelling development of varying sizes for a diverse community with a communal green and car free play street. 
Young People - Wildlife Watch
Weekend opportunities for over 15s and their families to enjoy and explore local habitats and wildlife. They provide fun and informal ways to explore and understand the natural world and inspire a caring attitude towards local wildlife.
Young People - Wildflowers Kindergarten
An early years practice connecting young children and their natural environment to lay a respectful and responsible relationship to the countryside
Community and Voluntary - Overton Walking for Health
Walking for Health volunteers have improved the accessibility of footpaths in Overton by consulting with the local community and through collaboration with other groups.
Community and Voluntary - Lepe Country Park
A team of volunteers have transformed Lepe Point making it a jewel in the crown of the park with a pond, boardwalk, viewpoint and sensory cottage garden.
