CPRE Hampshire, the Countryside Charity is seeking a new Chair to provide leadership for the organisation across Hampshire. Our charity is passionate about making the Hampshire countryside a better place for everyone to live, work and enjoy. There has never been a more important time for this work.

CPRE Hampshire Needs You

The CPRE Hampshire Chair role is a volunteer position that offers the opportunity to lead a charity where you will be helping to find positive solutions. By applying your skills and experience you can make a real difference and be a central part of a friendly, hardworking and passionate charity.

Supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic group of trustees with a wealth of relevant experience, you’ll provide leadership and oversee the future direction and development of our charity. You’ll ensure the requirements of the constitution are met and that our governance complies with charity law and best practice.

We’re looking for someone with leadership, an ability to think strategically, good communication skills and a passion for environmental and countryside issues. Could that be you?

What you will be doing

· Providing strategic leadership to our charity and supporting fundraising, membership and engagement initiatives.

· Acting as a figurehead for our members and volunteers.

· Acting as a spokesperson for our charity through public speaking and media interviews.

· Ensuring our charity meets constitutional and governance requirements.

· Ensuring the financial integrity and long-term sustainability of our charity.

· Ensuring appropriate line management of our staff.

· Building relationships and representing CPRE Hampshire in meetings with the community, local councils, parliamentary representatives, partner organisations and other stakeholders.

· Safeguarding the good name and values of our charity.

· Liaising with national CPRE, the South East Regional Group and other local CPREs.

· Being the voting member at national CPRE.

The skills you will need


· Previous experience in leadership, management or organisational development.

· Good interpersonal skills.

· Good written and oral communications skills.

· A passion for the countryside.


· Previous experience of committee work – paid or voluntary.

· Knowledge of countryside issues.

· Knowledge of the charity sector, including funding and governance.

· Experience of working with people from different backgrounds and abilities.
