Protecting the countryside - CPRE stand at the Alresford Show

The Mid-Hampshire District Group of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) will be on stand 152 at the Alresford Show to be held on Saturday 6th September 2008. CPRE will be to the right of the entrance to the Cricket ground and almost opposite the two pedestrian entrances to the showground.

At county level, CPRE Hampshire has played an active part in some high profile campaigns during the past year, including supporting the National litter campaign 'Stop the drop' backed by author Bill Bryson, responding to Eco-town proposals, involvement in the Local Development Frameworks for the Districts, as well as involvement in the new South Downs National Park, including working on the new proposed boundaries.

Closer to home, local CPRE members keep a watching eye on many topics that may affect the countryside, from water and waste management to local planning proposals such as Barton Farm and Micheldever.

Nick Perry of CPRE, who has organised the stand, explained:

"CPRE has some exciting campaigns coming up in the next few months. We are organising a litter initiative in the area which aims to tackle the growing litter and fly-tipping problems. If you are interested in this campaign please visit us at the show."
