How to make the most of the Hampshire Countryside

A day of diverse activities for all the family
Sunday May 11th, Queen Elizabeth Country Park

Making the most of the countryside, learning more about what is has to offer and what you can do to help protect it are the aims of a family fun day being hosted by the Campaign to Protect Rural England on Sunday 11th May 2008, from 11.30am to 4pm at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Portsmouth.

CPRE's Countryside Day is open to all and will provide a range of opportunities ranging from wilderness skills and orienteering challenges through to demonstrations of traditional country crafts and displays from a range of rural based organisations, covering both conservation projects and wildlife concerns, from across Hampshire. Many of the activities will be free.

students at QE Park Becky French (far right in photo) of CPRE Hampshire said:

"This event will provide a great day out for young people and families. There will be practical activities to get involved in and lots of information from a range of organisations if you want to take this initial interest further. Why not get a group of your friends or family together and take this opportunity to try something new and most of all…..enjoy the countryside!"

Whilst the aim of the day is for visitors to have fun and try something new, CPRE also hopes to highlight some of the issues and problems threatening the rural areas of Hampshire and show how people can help to protect and maintain this vital resource.

Other organisations already signed up for the day include the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and the Environment Agency. A variety of refreshments will be available throughout the day.

For all enquiries about the CPRE's Countryside Day please contact Becky French - Tel: 01962 843655, email: info@cprehampshire.org.uk.
