Classical music evening in aid of CPRE

Paul Hart, the well-known trumpeter and Elizabeth le Grove, an extremely gifted organist, are a superbly matched duo that has performed together and enthralled audiences on many occasions since 2002. At 7.30 pm on Friday 12th October 2007, they will present an evening of light classical music in the beautiful 12th century church of the Hospital of Saint Cross, Winchester, in aid of the Campaign to Protect Rural England.

This highly talented duo has produced two very successful CDs entitled 'Celestial Trumpet' and more recently, 'The Golden Trumpet', both on general sale under the Clovelly label. John Budden, the CPRE volunteer organising the event, said:

"The enchanting music produced by Paul and Elizabeth in the historic and sublimely serene surroundings of this lovely old Church, promises to be one of Winchester's most outstanding musical performances."

Paul has been associated with a variety of bands and musical groups since he was nine years of age, mostly in and around Leicester until he joined the Royal Marines School of Music in 1987. He travelled widely with the band, and quickly became an outstanding soloist. For many years he was the lead trumpeter. He left the Royal Marines Band Service in 2003 and is now the Director of Music for the Southampton Concert Brass Band. He feels privileged to be involved with building the raft of young talent throughout the City.

Elizabeth studied music at the University of Wales and graduated with Honours. She gained experience as the organist of Bangor Cathedral, and after further study gained her Masters degree (MPhil) in Musical Analysis in 1991. In 1996 she was awarded the position of Academic Professor of Music at the Royal Marines School of Music.
