CPRE talk on 'Your food, the real choice'

CPRE Hampshire is holding its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 19th May, at 10.30am at Sparsholt College, Winchester. Immediately after the AGM at 12 o' clock, there will be a presentation and talk. This year's guest speaker will be Dr Malcolm Crabtree, the Managing Director of The Leckford Estate, owned by Waitrose.

There has never been such a wide range of food on offer to consumers from such a variety of different production systems as there is today. The talk 'Your food, the real choice' will review some of the outlets where food is sold and the likely future developments in local and regional produce.

After the talk there will be a buffet lunch and beverage refreshment for everyone wishing to stay to view the displays and talk to other CPRE members. Conscious of the day being FA Cup Final Day, the meeting will finish at 2pm, giving plenty of time to return to a favoured destination to watch the match. For those not interested in the football, there is the opportunity to enjoy the various walks available around Sparsholt Estate.

Pam Mason of CPRE Hampshire, who is organising the AGM said:

"The AGM is the one social occasion where all our members have the opportunity to meet like-minded people amidst the lovely surroundings of Sparsholt College and to hear first hand of the work done by our volunteers and staff throughout 2006. The talk this year is very topical, with the issue of supermarkets versus local food producers having a very high profile in the press."
