Forthcoming fundraising events for CPRE Hampshire

Please find below a list of events being organised to raise funds for the Hampshire Branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE Hampshire).

April 2007

As part of its 'Countryside Walks and Talks' programme for 2007, CPRE Hampshire has organised a walk from Keyhaven to Hurst Castle, followed by a talk and supper at the Keyhaven Yacht Club, on Wednesday 4th April. The evening offers the chance to learn about the work carried out to protect the coastal area, as well as the opportunity to see beautiful coastal views, meet like-minded people and enjoy the countryside.

May 2007

CPRE Hampshire has organised a ranger-led walk in Alice Holt Woodland Park, Tuesday 15th May at 11.00am. The walk will last approximately 1½ hours and will be looking at forest management techniques, including a practical lesson on tree identification. The walk will start from the Forest Classroom, and refreshments will be available from the Forest Centre after the walk.

CPRE Hampshire's Test Valley District Group has organised a coach trip to Frogmore Mausoleum and Savill Gardens, on Wednesday 16th May. The Mausoleum is a classic example of high Victorian Gothic architecture, set in the tranquil setting of the private park of Windsor Castle. Savill Gardens is 35 acres of trees, shrubs, streams and stunning private gardens. The coach leaves from Romsey Bus Station at 8.30am, picking up from Kings Somborne, Stockbridge and Andover at 9.15am.

CPRE Hampshire is holding its AGM on 19th May at 11am at Sparsholt College. Dr Malcolm Crabtree, the Managing Director of the Leckford Estate is this year's guest speaker and his talk is entitled: 'Your food, the real choice'.

June 2007

North Hampshire District Group has organised a coach trip to Forde Abbey near Chard, on Monday 11th June. There will be a guided tour around the 800 year old Abbey, a beautiful Cistercian Monastery, followed by the opportunity to explore the award winning 30 acre gardens; including five lakes, an arboretum, herbaceous boarders and splendid trees and shrubs.

CPRE Hampshire is organising an evening's guided tour of Carvers Hill Wild Flower Farm, near Marlborough, 6 pm on Thursday 21st June. The guided tour around the estate will look at practical methods of country restoration, with the organic farming of sheep, cereals, wild flower seed and plant production. Once the tour has ended there will be time to look at the wild flower garden and tree and shrub collection and to have some refreshments.

September 2007

The Mid-Hampshire District Group is having a membership and recruitment stand at the Alresford Show on Saturday 1st September. Volunteers will explain CPRE's purpose and campaigns, as well as listen and advise people about issues in their local countryside.

The Hart and Rushmoor group is holding a guided walk near Hartley Wintney, along the Basingstoke Canal and surrounding area on Saturday 8th September, 10am. The walk will be guided by Chris Griffin, a member of the Basingstoke Canal Association; it will look at the work done to protect the canals and the surrounding areas.
