Forthcoming Fundraising Events for CPRE Hampshire
Here are just a few of the events being organised during September and October to raise funds for the Hampshire branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE Hampshire). Events in September 2006 Mid Hampshire District Group is having a membership and recruitment stand at the Alresford Show on the 2nd September. The stall will be located near the entrance to the cricket ground, where experienced volunteers will be on hand to explain CPRE's objectives and current campaigns, as well as discussing and advising on issues in the local area. East Hampshire and Havant District Group are joining with Canine Partners on the 7th September at Stansted Park. Guests will be served champagne and have the opportunity to look around the house before a talk and demonstration from Canine Partners, who will illustrate how they train the dogs to help their disabled human partners by taking over such tasks as getting money out of a cash point! North Hampshire District Group is once again holding their very popular talk and supper at St Mary Bourne Village Hall on Tuesday 26th September. The guest speaker this year is Ashley Smith, from the Hawk Conservatory, who has been invited back after a very successful evening in North Hampshire a few years ago. CPRE Hampshire have organised a visit to Broughton Water Buffalo Farm, near Stockbridge, on Wednesday 27th September at 10.30am, lasting approximately 1½ hours. Guests will have the chance to view the 200 Buffalo, grazing on 300 acres of chalk down, water meadow and clover grassland rich in wild flowers, herbs and other grasses. The tour will finish with a barbecued burger and soft drinks. Events in October 2006 Mid Hampshire District Group have organised a 'Garden Management Talk' at 2.30pm on Tuesday 3rd October at the Gloucester Hall, Colden Common Community Centre. Norman Hambrook, the founder and Managing Director of Hambrook's Nurseries, is an expert in all aspect of horticulture, and will be giving a lively and entertaining talk regarding old and new ideas about how to create a beautiful garden. East Hampshire and Havant District Group are having their AGM on the 26th October at East Meon Sustainability Centre. Shaun Leavey, The Director of National Farmers Union (NFU), is this year's guest speaker and will be talking about farming and the countryside.
