Going to the Dogs

The East Hampshire and Havant District Group of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) is teaming up with Canine Partners this year for its annual summer fundraising event.

The event will take place in the historic setting of Stansted Park on the Hampshire/West Sussex border near Havant on Thursday 7th September. Stansted Park will open its doors to guests at 5.30pm where champagne will be served in the great rooms. Guests will have the opportunity to look around the house and view the rooms 'below stairs' including the pantries and kitchens where the household staff used to lived and work. John Venning, of CPRE, said:

"The rooms are so beautifully preserved you will feel as if their occupants have just popped out for the day while you visit".

After guests have had the opportunity to look round the house there will be a lively talk and demonstration from Canine Partners. Canine Partners is a registered charity which helps people with disabilities to regain their independence. Dogs are trained to carry out a wide variety of tasks for their disabled human 'partners' from getting money out of a cash point to loading a washing machine and picking chosen items of supermarket shelves. The demonstration will include marvellous tales of what some of these dogs have done to transform, and in some cases save, the lives of their partners.

For all enquiries about attending this event or if you would like to support CPRE in any way, please contact Pam Mason - tel: 01962 843655, e-mail: admin@cprehampshire.org.uk.
