Report on Kimpton House Open Garden, Sunday 16th July 2006
The garden of Christopher and Susan Napier was opened to members of CPRE and their guests, on a very hot Sunday afternoon. Despite the heat, just over 180 visitors enjoyed the beautiful gardens and admired the stunning views across the South Downs. Tea and home-made cakes were served in the shade of several tents on the formal lawn, and most visitors took advantage of the chance to sit and relax in the beautiful setting. There were stalls selling plants and unusual cards, and also Imbhams Farm Granary, who set up two portable milling machines so that visitors could watch fresh grains being milled and sold as flour, breakfast cereals, etc. As a result of the afternoon, we were able to contribute a sum of just under £1,000 to the funds of CPRE, and we gained two new members. Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Napier for their generosity in opening the garden on our behalf. Pam Mason This page last updated 1st August 2006 |
