South Downs Campaign
A 9-mile walk was held at Harting Down on Sunday 8th July, attended by over 100 people, to support the campaign to achieve the best possible South Downs National Park. This is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of recommending this national park. CPRE is a member of the South Downs Campaign. See the newsletter article (link above) for details of CPRE activities over the last few years. Below are some photographs of the event. Click on an image to see its full sized version. Walkers included representatives from the Rambler's Association, Council for National Parks, Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), South Downs Society, South Downs Campaign, Parish Councils and local residents, amongst others. The picture above shows Brian Blessed, the actor, who is the outgoing President of the Council for National Parks. Latest Consultation DEFRA is inviting objections and representations on new issues relating to the South Downs National Park, including its boundaries.
