Report on Open Garden, Farleigh Wallop, Sunday 1st July 2007
CPRE Hampshire's annual Open Garden event was a great success, despite the showery weather conditions on the day. Over 170 stout-hearted visitors risked the rain to admire the stunning gardens at the home of the Earl and Countess of Portsmouth at Farleigh Wallop, and to enjoy a cream tea and home-made refreshments in the beautiful covered barn area. With stalls ranging from garden plants to jewellery, a farm granary to a Health and Well-being consultant, and of course CPRE's own information stand and childrens 'lucky dip with a difference', there was plenty to see and do, and everyone who came along appeared to really enjoy themselves. Organiser Pam Mason said: "Considering the appalling weather conditions the day before, and also on the morning of the event, we were delighted at the turnout. The event raised over £1,400 for our funds, which will help us to continue with our essential campaigning work to help protect the beauty and diversity of our beautiful Hampshire countryside".
