South Hampshire Group
Area covered: South Hampshire Sub-region, i.e. the areas of Portsmouth City Council, Fareham Borough Council, Gosport Borough Council, Southampton City Council, Winchester District Council and Havant Borough Council.
Chairman: Caroline Dibden

This is a newly formed group that takes account of the South Hampshire Sub-Region in drawing its boundaries. See this article about the newly formed group.
Current issues and work of the group includes:
- Developing a strategy for the new group in relation to planning for South Hampshire
- Ministry of Defence land releases
- Major housing developments, such as the site of Fareham North SDA (Strategic Development Area) with plans for 10,000 new homes. Go to Fareham SDA pages to see how you can help us with this campaign.
- Objected to application to build caravan park in open countryside just outside Knowle village
- Objecting to Linden Homes' application to build 280 unwanted houses and a highly controversial Doctors' Surgery on farm land in the Westbourne/Emsworth Gap
- Pushing for better re-development of brownfield sites, especially those that are semi-derelict
- Transport, including signage on rural routes and Southampton airport expansion plans.
Recent News (Spring 2011)
Our work has largely been focussed on the proposed Strategic Development Area (New Town) on a greenfield site in between Fareham and Wickham (follow link on right).
We have also been exploring a green infrastructure policy for South Hampshire, which explores providing special protection for strategic land allocations, as well as keeping an eye on all PUSH proposals for the sub region.
Earlier news for the predecessor group can be found in our newsletter archives.
