Say no to carrier bags!

As we all know, plastic carrier bags are very wasteful, 80% of shoppers put everything into free carrier bags at the supermarket; and 100,000 tonnes of plastic bags are thrown away each year that's the same weight as 70,000 cars!

Please encourage friends and family to use alternative environmentally friendly bags, which can now be found in most supermarkets and stores. CPRE produces its own cotton shopping bags, which can be purchased online at CPRE's Natural Collection shop at www.naturalcollection.com/cpre under CPRE products.

Sign up at www.ctt.org/CPRE_Signup_lc.htm to receive Bill Bryson's e-bulletins, with information and campaigning updates. You'll be kept informed as the Stop the Drop campaign unfolds, and we will tell you how you can get involved.

Cleanup UK

CPRE has joined forces with Cleanup UK to create an online litter network (See LitterAction). Launched in April this year, the site aims to bring together individuals and groups who collect litter across England, helping to co-coordinate localised cleanup efforts.

How can you help? Please visit the Cleanup UK website to see what's going on in your area.

LitterAction

Run jointly by CPRE and Cleanup UK, the online community LitterAction helps individuals and local groups organise clean-up drives and awareness raising activities in their local area.

Get involved with Hampshire's efforts!

We are looking for someone with an interest in litter, who can help co-ordinate our local campaign. If you are interested in helping with litter in Hampshire, please contact Becky French on 01962 843655 or alternatively at: info@cprehampshire.org.uk.
