Welcome to the Campaign to Protect Rural England Hampshire - a charity campaigning for a beautiful and living countryside.
We want a beautiful, diverse and living countryside that everyone can value and enjoy. It is only through vigorous and vigilant campaigning that we will be able to achieve our ambition of leaving Hampshire a better place for future generations.
Transport Toolkit Latest: Bike Trial Report
CPRE Hampshire has been busy piloting aspects of the Toolkit. A three month trial of electric bikes was carried out during the summer in Medstead and Four Marks, some of the highest settlements in Hampshire. The aim was to see if ebikes could be used as an alternative method of transport in rural communities, and if so, how? They proved popular and fun, especially in the middle to older age groups, because the power assistance made the hills much easier, enabling riders to go further faster. However they are expensive to buy and this would need to be overcome if rural schemes are to be developed. Project manager Camilla Swiderska has produced a report, including a summary...

Hampshire's Countryside is Under Threat
Act Now To Save Our Beautiful Landscape
The government has recently consulted on its draft National Planning Policy Framework (consultations closed on 17 Oct). CPRE Hampshire, like the National Trust and other environmental bodies, has responded vigorously to the consultation. We urge everyone who values Hampshire's beautiful landscape to keep up the pressuer. Join us in this battle for our children's legacy.
Thank you for your support to date. For information on our recent campaigning see:

Sustainable Transport for Rural Communities
Why have rural communities had to take a back seat when it comes to formulating national transport policy? And why does rural transport present such a challenge to policy makers? CPRE want to address that problem and is developing a Transport Toolkit that will equip local people to implement sustainable local transport projects in their communities. We are holding our first sustainable transport trial - an electric bike trial in Four Marks and Medsted.

"Stop Fareham New Town"
CPRE Hampshire in association with SHUV (South Hampshire's Unheard Voices), a coalition of 36 organisations, are campaigning vigorously against a proposed new town between Wickham and north Fareham.
This unwelcome development is what will happen if Fareham Borough Council gets it way.
In January we provided a detailed submission to the Council on its core strategy (which proposes this development) stating in detail our objections.
A letter has also been sent by CPRE/SHUV to local residents. For copies of both documents and the latest news follow the link below.
